  • FAQ & Rules
    • THE BASICS

    • Strictly only one account per household allowed.(except by special agreement with us).

    • A maximum of 5 tips is allowed per day.

    • You must make at least 10 tips per month to be in the running for the monthly prize and at least 100 for the year to qualify for an annual prize. Tipsters not showing an overall profit going into the final month (March) will not be eligible for that season's annual competition.

    • The top 5 every month win a cash prize. See the league table for current prize breakdown.

    • In the event of a tie, the prize fund will be divided equally.

    • Betfinder's decision is final.

      TIPSTER ACCOUNTS

    • Account Suspended? - Most suspensions occur because a tipsters details etc. appear very similar to those of another tipster so we like to clarify that these are in fact 2 different people. Once this is resolved to our satisfaction then the account is normally reinstated. In these cases, any payments will usually only be made via cheque.

    • More than One Account? - Sorry but to make the competition as fair as possible each tipster is only allowed one account and you are not allowed to cancel and set up a new one if things go badly. This makes a mockery of historical stats, messes up tipster alert settings & is unfair on other users. Any players deemed to have multiple accounts may forfeit all of their outstanding prize monies.

      TIPS PLACEMENT

    • Please enter full details of your tips in the Bet Details box. Include future dates, off times etc. Any bets without this information may be scrubbed. We need enough info to be able to settle it. Please take care with off times and prices. (they will be checked!)

    • You can only have a maximum of 5 selections for any one day. Tips count for the day the event finishes, not when you enter them. For example, ante-post bets will be moved to the date the event finishes and count to that days total. Any subsequent tips over the allowed daily limit of 5 will be deleted.

    • For ante-post bets please state the date of the event, or when it is scheduled to finish.

    • If you want to place LAY BETS, you must clearly state LAY in the Bet Details box.

    • If you are LAYING then you can only use the best exchange price or SP to lay at. (ie.not a bookie price). Otherwise we will settle at SP.

    • Any price requests for Place Only horse racing bets will be verified using Betfair's place markets.

    • The maximum stake you can place on any single outcome is 10 points (or 10pts Each Way. ie 10 points to win and 10 points place). No single tip can be over 10pts in total.

      NON RUNNERS

    • Tips for non-runners will be deleted except for antepost tips where it will be settled as a loser as with most bookmakers.

    • We cannot monitor the emergence of non-runners as they happen therefore any tips where a price is taken and there are subsequent non-runners will be settled at SP. Rule 4 deductions may also apply if the market has not been reformed.

    • In the event of a 5 runner race being reduced to 4 runners, then win only is available to a maximum of 10 points. The entire place part will not transfer to a win bet if you already have the full 10 points on the win part.

For example, if you only tipped say, 5pts EW then we would settle at 10pts win also but if you did 7pts EW then it would still settle at 10pts Win. The total win part of the tip cannot exceed the 10 points max.limit.

      TIPS SETTLEMENT

    • In the event of any dead heats or abandonments we will use the same rules as our sponsor, Paddy Power bookmaker.

    • Tips submitted after the scheduled 'off-time' of the event, will of course be deemed void.

    • Any tips of non-runners will be deleted or voided.

    • If you LAY a selection, then we will convert the odds to the equivalent back price for settlement purposes.

    • When you LAY a selection, you are staking the amount of points you will lose should the selection win.

    • Betfinder will always try and credit you with the best odds at time of verification. If the odds cannot be verified before the off, then SP will be used.

    • If you enter a tip as 'Each Way' (EW) then you cannot fix a price using a bookmaker who does not state place terms or from exchanges such as Betfair as they operate separate Win and Place markets.

    • Where an early price is taken but there are later non-runners, there may be Rule 4 deductions. In most of these cases though, we will simply revert to the SP or credit you with the best price available if we are able to check the new market. Betfinder will strive to ensure fairness and our decision is final.

    • Any settlement disputes should be emailed to tipsters@betfinder.co.uk.

      LAYING

    • When you lay a selection you are effectively backing it to lose and you are staking points to lose should the selection win. We will convert the odds you are laying at into the equivalent back price. We allow LAY bets on most sports where a price/SP is available. However, we do not allow laying on US horse racing or horse racing where an official SP is not returned.

      ANTE-POST TIPS

    • Any antepost tips will be dated to the expected tournament/event end date. However, any antepost tips that can be settled as losers before this date may be moved back to the date it lost and settled (or to the next date available). It will count towards that days tips.

      OVERSEAS (NON-UK) RACING

    • We do not accept tips on non-UK racing where an official SP or dividend is not returned by either of the 2 main UK results sources, the Sporting Life or the Racing Post.

      FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

      Q. What types of tips am I allowed to place?
      A. You can do win, each way and place only bets (and also win & place lays) on most major sporting events and also on specials and novelty events. You can also do Asian Handicaps, related markets such as first goalscorer in footy and set betting in tennis. As a general rule, if there are odds available for it on Betfinder, then you can place bets or lays on it.

      Q. What kind of tips can I NOT place ?
      A. We do not allow financial, spread betting, permutation, forecast, tricasts or multiple bets. Nor do we accept 'In-Running' bets, you must get your tips in before the official 'off' time. Finally, no duplicate bets - the most you can place on any one outcome is 10 points or 10 points each way. If you go over this on any single outcome then only one bet will be used to the maximum of 10pts.

      Q. Can I place each-way bets?
Yes, you can now place each way bets to a maximum of 10pts EW. If you want to take a price on each way bets you can only do so using a bookmaker (not betting exchanges) who is also offering place terms on that event. Alternatively, you can enter separate win and place bets if you want to use exchange odds or SP, or vary the stakes.

      Q. How do you determine the price?
      A. Unless it's an unusual market it's probably best to leave the price box empty. However, we will verify any prices you enter so please don't try and cheat! There may be a time delay between when we are able to verify the odds so there may be a slight difference. We will always credit you with the best odds available on Betfinder at the time of verification.
If we are unable to verify the price in time then SP may be used, so if you want to take a price please place the bet as early as possible. Prices must be entered in decimal odds format. (You can switch between fractional and decimal under Preferences on the right hand side when viewing odds tables). If you take a price and there are subsequent non-runners, we reserve the right to amend the price to the best odds available when the market reforms or use SP. Our decision is final.
Anyone found to be trying to obtain bigger prices than available will be banned and any outstanding prize money withheld.

      Q. What about dead heats, abandonements etc.?
      A. For any of these sorts of outcomes, we will always use the same rules as Paddy Power. For example in Tennis, all bets are Void if a player retires at any point. Their rules can be found here.

      Q. What happens in the event of tie in the tipster league?
      A. In the event of 2 or more players tying for a cash payout position, the total cash available for those tied positions will be divided equally.

      Q. What do LWS and LLS stand for?
      A. They stand for Longest Winning Streak and Longest Losing Streak to show a players best and worst sequences of consecutive winning or losing runs.

      Good luck!
